Biography
Bishop Raymond Berger was born in Baltimore, Maryland and grew up under the leadership of Bishop Randolph Carr. God had a purpose for his life even as a child. At age eleven (11) he was the Adult Sunday School Teacher and Sunday school secretary at Rehoboth Church in Chatham, Virginia where he held this position for approximately three (3) years. As a youth growing up, Bishop Berger wanted to be an Attorney but the Lord had another purpose for him.
He graduated from high school in 1960. From 1961 through 1966 he attended Brooklyn College and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. He also attended Manhattan Bible Institute. In June 2002 Bishop was conferred with an Honorary Doctorate in Religious Studies and also a Doctorate in Humane Letters in 2006. In September 2010 he completed a Leadership training class through the VAC Bible Institute.
In June 1974 Elder Berger was installed as Pastor of the Rehoboth Church in Waterbury, CT. In 1986, he was elevated to Overseer of the New England District and in June 1996 consecrated to the office of Bishop. With the vision God gave him, Bishop Berger formed Victorious Apostolic Churches, Inc. in November, 2004. His goal and desire is to lead a healthy cell of saints into their
destiny.
Bishop Berger is a mentor to several Pastors in Waterbury. He is often sought out for advice, encouragement and prayers to the saved as well as the unsaved who have given him the name of “Hood Pastor.” Bishop Berger is an active member of the Concerned Black Clergy of Waterbury, CT. Bishop was awarded a plaque from the Goodwill Lodge #1325 and also the Concerned Citizens of Waterbury for his outstanding service in the community.
Bishop Berger is married to Evangelist Tannie Calloway Berger. Bishop has four children, Raymond, Jr., Ramona, Ruben and Richard; thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
